At the customs terminal of Vermica, customs officers managed to discover expired goods inside a barge during a detailed check.

An importing subject had submitted a commercial cargo for customs clearance, which was selected for control based on the risk analysis carried out by Kosovo Customs.

During this inspection, in the presence of phytosanitary inspectors, customs officials identified several expired goods, including: bakery products, chewing gum, gummy cakes, cookies, spices.

Some of these products were loaded in the middle of the refrigerated cargo, while the rest were hidden at the bottom of the cargo, camouflaged with goods with a regular expiration date.

After this discovery, the importing subject was charged with a customs offence, while the goods, over 3 thousand packages, were subject to confiscation.
