Vjosa Osmani receives the M100 award
In a solemn ceremony, the president of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani was honored with the award of the international forum M100 Sanssouci Colloquium in Potsdam, Germany, thus becoming the first leader from the Balkans to be honored with this award for her commitment to Euro-Atlantic values.
The former Minister of Defense of Germany during the war in Kosovo, Rudolph Scharping, has said that President Vjosa Osmani is honored with this award as a personality who has inspired with her tireless work in strengthening democracy, the fight against corruption, the rule of law and for human rights, Euro-Atlantic values, as well as equality and women's rights.
In an emotional speech, President Vjosa Osmani said that the people of Kosovo will always be the champion of democracy and will work for future generations to have a better life.
She thanked Germany for the presence of its troops within KFOR as part of NATO's peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, as she also spoke about Kosovo's ambitions for future accession to the European Union and NATO.
Otherwise, Osman's nomination was made by the Forum's jury. This award is given to personalities who are dedicated to strengthening democracy, the rule of law, human rights and European values.
