The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that archeology is receiving the appropriate state attention and that intensive work is being done on archaeological sites, management plans, international collaborations, studies and publications.
He announced that this year, important projects are being worked on for the preservation and development of the archaeological heritage in Kosovo, where archaeological sites are being treated, such as Vuçak Castle in Drenas, Dardana Castle in Kamenica, Kasterci Castle, Suharekë, Castle of Mareci in Prishtina, Harilaq Castle, Fushë Kosovë, Korisha Castle, Prizren, Keçekolla Castle in the municipality of Prishtina, the archaeological site in Hisar, Suharekë, the site in Bostan, Novobërda and Cernicë in Gjilan.He also warned that the cooperation agreement with the University of Tubingen in Germany will be signed soon.
In cooperation with the United States of America, the project of treating the archaeological site in Dresnik in Klina is continuing, while just a short time after the beginning of the archaeological excavations in Vučak Castle in Drenas, a Roman altar from the first half of the 3rd century after Christ.
The object is a spolia reused in the construction of the fortress of the Justinian period (AD 527-565). The altar is of special importance and indicates that there is continuity of life from prehistory, antiquity to the Middle Ages.
Some of the latest publications are the magazine "Kosova Archeology", the monograph "Varreza tumular e Dollci", while in June the article "The Dardanian Settlement of Cernica - Vendbanimi Dardan ne Cërnica" was sent for publication in the magazine "Iliria" in Tirana.
