Murders, attacks and threats with weapons have not stopped in recent months in Kosovo. The number of illegal weapons is estimated to be large in the hands of Kosovo citizens. Kosovo police only from January to July confiscated 814 different illegal weapons, while during 2023, they confiscated 1392 illegal weapons.

According to the security expert, Nuredin Ibishi, the best way to hand over weapons is for the security institutions to give them financial means in compensation.

According to him, it can also be funds from international organizations.

Ibishi told KosovaPress that on an annual basis the Kosovo Police confiscates about 1500 different illegal weapons. While in possession are somewhere around 260 different weapons.

Meanwhile, KP in a written response has emphasized that he has continuously worked for the prevention and confiscation of illegal weapons, making various campaigns and appeals for the non-use of firearms.

"The Kosovo Police, through its plans, has continuously worked for the prevention and confiscation of illegal weapons, as well as made various campaigns and appeals for the non-use of firearms. During the period January-July 2024, 814 different weapons were confiscated; During 2023, 1392 different weapons were confiscated and during 2022, 1473 different weapons were confiscated,'' KP answered.

KosovaPress has sent several questions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but the same has not returned an answer.

Meanwhile, on September 2, 100 bullets were fired in the "Aktash" neighborhood of Prishtina, where as a result Pajtim Gashi was killed during the conflict between the two families, Sekiraq and Capat.

And only two days after the murder, in the same neighborhood, the worker of a bar was threatened with a gun.
