With the rising costs of summer holidays, tourists are looking for destinations that offer unusual experiences without affecting their budget, writes Unzela Khan in an article published in the British daily "Daily Express".

We've discovered some lesser-known but wallet-friendly places that defy standard tourist expectations, providing true adventure at minimal expense.

Jason Higgs, a travel expert, has identified nine hidden gems – that are affordable yet rich in experience – with Albania leading the way.

Albania, the European destination with bright blue seas and beautiful cities – has an average daily cost of only 27 euros.

"Our research shows that some of the most memorable travel experiences can be found in the least explored corners of the world," Higgs said.

"These destinations offer significant savings, as well as authentic cultural immersion and stunning natural beauty," he added.

Albania – this Balkan treasure boasts stunning mountain scenery, beautiful coastal towns and rich cultural heritage.

From the historic city of Berat to the picturesque Albanian Riviera, Albania offers a wealth of experiences at affordable costs compared to its European neighbors.

"In Albania, you can spend an average of 27-37 euros per day, including accommodation, transport and food. Delicious Mediterranean food such as lamb, cheese and seafood are very cheap," said Higgs./ATSH
