Mass Ukrainian drone strikes hit a Moscow refinery and two power plants, according to Russian reports on Sunday. A fire broke out in the Kapotnja refinery located in the southeastern district of Moscow, but after some time the fire brigades managed to bring it under control.

Attacks on a power plant on the southern edge of Moscow and on a power plant in the Tver region about 100 kilometers northeast of the metropolis have been officially confirmed.

Russian media published unconfirmed videos online showing those two factories also on fire. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on Telegram that drone debris fell on the outskirts of Moscow.

The Ministry of Defense in Moscow announced that 158 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight in 15 different Russian regions. The number cannot be independently confirmed, but it is the highest number of Ukrainian drones reported so far.

Russian forces invaded Ukraine two and a half years ago on the orders of President Vladimir Putin. Russia also largely destroyed Ukrainian power plants with its long-range weapons, which Ukraine does not have. Ukraine defends itself with a large number of drones that attack Russian industrial facilities.
