Ruzhdi Ruzhdi won the gold medal in shot put (category F55) at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Bulgaria also won first place in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and has a silver medal from Tokyo 2020.

The Bulgarian athlete scored a victory with a large margin over the competitors. His third best effort of 12.40m proved to be the most notable achievement, with no other athlete breaking the 12.00m mark.

The second place today went to Nebojsha Duriq from Serbia with 11.98 meters, while the third and bronze medal went to Lech Stoltman from Poland with 11.90 meters. Tokyo champion Wallace Santos (Brazil) was fifth this time with 11.68 meters.

Ruzhdi started with 12.36 meters and followed it with a push of 11.96 meters. His fourth attempt came in at 12.34m and he finally finished with 12.02m and 12.27m.

Bulgarian participation in the Paralympic Games in Paris continues tomorrow with two new athletes. Stella Eneva (F57) takes part in the discus throw and Hristiyan Stojanov in the 1500m run. /BTA
