Even the European Union has expressed its disappointment regarding the Government's decision to close some parallel municipalities in the north.

In the reaction of the EU, published last night, it is said that the latter is disappointed by the constant lack of coordination with Kosovo's security providers and with international partners.

"Today's operation of the Kosovo Police against the offices supported by Serbia in North Mitrovica, Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq, developed under the instructions of the Government of Kosovo, endangers the fragile security situation on the ground. EULEX was immediately deployed to monitor the development of this operation, which was not coordinated with the EU and international partners", the reaction states.

Furthermore, in the reaction, it is said that the EU wants to repeat that Kosovo is committed to de-escalation.

"The EU wants to repeat that Kosovo is committed to de-escalation. The EU has repeatedly called on Kosovo to avoid any action that could negatively affect the security of people on the ground. Unfortunately, our appeals have been ignored by the government of Kosovo. The EU would like to reiterate that the current police operation against the offices supported by Serbia may lead to further escalation of an already unstable situation", the reaction continues.

According to them, the Offices supported by Serbia are expected to be addressed and resolved in the Dialogue facilitated by the EU.

"We expect that Kosovo and Serbia will address and resolve the open issues between them in the EU-facilitated Dialogue", the reaction says.

The Minister of Local Government Administration Elbert Krasniqi announced on Friday that in this case the parallel municipality of Mitrovica District of Kosovo, the parallel municipality of Mitrovica, that of Zveçan, the parallel municipality of Zubin Potok and the parallel municipality of Leposaviq have been closed.

"These five today join seven other parallel municipalities which were closed in Prizren, Pejë, Suharekë, Istog, Klinë, Rahovec and Dragash. The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo offer services to all citizens, without distinction. They are the right address for all the demands and needs of our citizens. We remain committed to as many services as possible with the highest quality", wrote Krasniqi on Facebook.
