The new entry and exit system (EES) in the European Union (EU) will enter into force on November 10 of this year.

All travelers from non-EU countries will have to register their entry and exit from EU countries as well as Schengen areas by leaving their biometric data, including fingerprints, facial scans and passport data, when entering the territory of the EU. The new rules will also apply to citizens of Kosovo.

The passport stamping system will soon be replaced with the introduction of digital checks for all passengers arriving from countries outside the EU. This was announced by the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Ylva Johansson.

"I have decided that the entry-exit system will start working on November 10," Johansson said while stressing that legal steps are required before the European Commission makes an official decision on the matter.

"But I am proud to reveal that the target date is November 10," she asserted.

It is about the transition to the most modern digital border management system in the world, which according to her will make travel easier and Europe safer, writes theguardian.

"At every border crossing, every airport, every port, every single road leading into Europe, we will have all digital border controls connected, all on at the same time," Johansson said.

The system consists of two parts and the first part of it, better known as EES, will start working on November 10 and will be used to register for travel. It is an automated system for registering entries and exits from the EU, reports Alsat.M.

Therefore, by going to the EES website or mobile application, you will be asked for travel documents and biometric data.

The second step is better known as ETIAS and its implementation is expected in the first half of next year, but not immediately, but with a six-plus-six-month transitional period.

What is the difference between ETIAS and EES?

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) refers to the 63 countries that, although not members, do not require a visa to enter. While the Traveler Registration System (EES) covers all external borders of the European Union and refers to all travelers from third countries, regardless of whether they need a visa or not.

Third countries include all countries that do not belong to the European Union or the European Economic Area.

Basically, all non-Schengen citizens will have to fill in the ETIAS form, pay a fee of seven euros and obtain an approval for three years, but travelers will be able to stay in the Schengen area for 90 days in a period of six months old.

On the other hand, the EES is only a monitoring system, which the border police will deal with. In this way, the European Union can more easily monitor if the traveler has stayed longer than the allowed stay - 90 days.

The final testing phase is underway and the final tests are being carried out by the eu-Lisa agency as well as by the EU member states.
