Bulgarian participants in the First International Olympiad win one gold and two bronze medals

The first International Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence, which began in Burgas on August 9, ended with the official award ceremony for the best participants. Competitors were awarded prizes and medals in both rounds of the Olympiad - theoretical and practical.

One of the Bulgarian teams, consisting of Deljan Hristov, Kalina Ivanova, Stoyan Ganchev and Velislav Dzhelepov, took the bronze medal in the theoretical part of the competition. The other Bulgarian team, which included Vanessa Kalinkova, Dejan Haxhi-Manic, Elitsa Basheva and Deljan Bojchev, won a gold medal in the practical part of the competition, in addition to another bronze medal in the theoretical part.

In the theoretical round, teams of up to four people solved problems prepared by researchers from leading universities around the world. They are from the fields of artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning and natural language processing. Participants had to create their own solution using a laptop, internet and free software.

Gold medals in this round went to four teams - two from Singapore, one from Poland and Team Letovo from Central University. Seven teams - two each from China and Hungary, and one each from Vietnam, Mongolia and Estonia - were awarded silver medals for their handling of the theoretical problem. Bronze medals were awarded to ten teams, where in addition to two Bulgarian teams, two Romanian teams, as well as teams from Malaysia, Colombia, Vietnam, Poland, Iran and Canada.

In the practical round, in which participants had to create video and audio content, the teams of Bulgaria, Poland, USA and Australia came first with gold medals.

Seven teams took silver - Letovo, China, Canada, Romania, United Arab Emirates, Hungary and Hong Kong. Bronze medals went to second-place teams from the United States and Poland, two teams from Vietnam, as well as Japan, Colombia, the Netherlands, Jordan, Tunisia and Macau.

A record number of participants - over 200, consisting of 40 teams from different countries from all continents, registered to compete in two rounds of the first International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), which was initiated by Bulgaria./ BTA/
