You should never wash windows on high heat, here's why
While the combination of sunlight and water seems like a great combination for washing windows, it is potentially dangerous.
Although the advice to never wash windows in the heat seems like just one of those old classic sayings, experts say it's worth heeding.
Cleaning experts recommend postponing window washing until slightly cooler days.
Logic says that water will dry faster at a high temperature, so why not clean the windows? This is a recipe for disaster, why shouldn't you clean windows in the heat?
First, when you wash windows in heat, the cleaner will evaporate prematurely. When the temperature exceeds 22 degrees Celsius, the rate of evaporation is much higher, so it is almost impossible to clean the window without stains.
"Imagine you want to wash a floor and it dries faster than you can clean it. The same principle applies to windows and because of this, your efforts will be wasted as the window will look like it has not been cleaned," says expert Michelle Hansen.
On the other hand, heat creates the possibility of cracking the glass when the cleaner is applied.
Optimal temperature from 10 to 22 degrees
Thermal stress occurs when you pour cold water into a hot glass and there is a risk of the glass breaking. This is especially true for regions where extreme heat is a constant occurrence.
Also, washing windows at high temperatures is physically exhausting. The most common consequence is dehydration.
"Because of all this, my advice is to clean the windows during the cooler parts of the day. The optimal temperature for washing windows is between 10 and 22 degrees Celsius," says cleaning expert Alicia Johnson.
