The Ministry of Defense of Albania announced today that 47 fires have been identified throughout the country.

After the continuous work of operational forces in the field, it became possible to completely isolate and extinguish 36 of them, while 11 foci continue to remain active.

In the report on the situation of the fires in the country, the MoD informed that, according to the data from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies, in the National Park of Prespa in Malin e Thata, the local structures have been working without interruption to isolate the focus of the fire. The fire continues to be active, due to the difficult terrain.

In the district of Tropoja, two fire foci are active: in the forest areas of the village of Rajë and Geghysen, as well as in the village of Çeren, where the fire near the National Park of the Alps has spread and the steep terrain makes intervention difficult.

In the village of Kus, of the Bërzhitë administrative unit, work continues to extinguish the fire on Malin Lugë. The outbreak is isolated and poses no risk of spread.

In the village of Tërnovë in the municipality of Bulqiza, the fire continues to be active despite numerous efforts by the forces on the ground to bring it under control.

In the village of Selixë in the municipality of Mati, the fire is active in two hearths. Due to the strong wind, insulation has not yet been achieved.

In the village of Skuraj, in the municipality of Kurbin, there is no open fire, but the smoke continues as a result of the burning of humus under the vegetation.

In the place called Mali i Pusi, in front of the village of Zhulat and above the village of Sotire, in the municipality of Dropulli, the situation is difficult because of the terrain, where the active fire has passed into the crown of pine trees. Local forces are monitoring the situation.

In the village of Kostar, in the municipality of Finiq and in the village of Mërtiraj in the municipality of Selenica, the fire continues to remain active but does not pose a danger to the homes. Intensive work is being done to extinguish it.

The Ministry of Defense also announced that, under the coordination of the National Civil Defense Agency, our Armed Forces have reinforced the efforts of local government teams, and have isolated dangerous hotspots in difficult terrain./ATSH/
