The increase in the number of foreign visitors to Albania has significantly increased interest in the country's cultural heritage.

Gjirokastra Castle is one of these destinations that increasingly attract foreign tourists, thanks to its historical and architectural values. It continues to remain the most preferred monument to be visited by local and foreign tourist groups along their guides and trips in the Gjirokastra area.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today on social networks views from the Gjirokastra castle that is visited by tourists from all over the world every day.

Only for the month of July, the number of tourists who have visited the Gjirokastra castle has increased by 13.78%, compared to 2023, while the figures reach 116,35% if compared to two years ago.

In July, 35,996 visitors were recorded, or 4,359 visitors more than during the same period in 2023 or 19,358 visitors more than the same period in 2022.

Gjirokastra, or as it is otherwise known, the "city of stones" is one of the most beautiful cities in the south of Albania, part of the UNESCO world heritage.

The main symbol of the city is the castle, closely related to the city itself. It is located on a hill, about 370 m above sea level./ATSH
