End of an era for Aerosmith fans - after more than five decades, the band of Dream On, Love in an Elevator and Janie's Got a Gun played their final concerts.

"Steven Tyler's vocal chord problems are irreversible," the band announced, canceling all other dates still scheduled for what was supposed to be a farewell tour.

"It was the honor of our lives to make our music a part of you," the band said in a social media post addressed to the Blue Army (army of fans).

Aerosmith in 2017 had given birth to Aero-Vederci Baby, a farewell tour of those who, à la Bob Dylan, seem to never end and which, under the name of Peace Out, should have continued at least until next February with stops in North America and Canada and a grand finale at Madison Square Garden.

The news of the cancellation of the remaining scheduled dates came after a spate of postponements: in fact, precisely because of Tyler's health problems, the last time the band had performed together was last September in Elmont, New York.

The decision to end his life on the road was "difficult, heartbreaking but necessary", made as frontman Tyler, whose voice "is an incomparable instrument", is still dealing with a fractured larynx he suffered at the end of last September after only three concerts.

"Steven spent months working tirelessly to get him back to the way he was before the injury. We have seen his struggles despite having the best doctors on the pitch by his side. Unfortunately it is clear that a full recovery will not to be possible", the members of the group have now said.

The farewell tour announcement doesn't specify whether there's hope for Tyler to recover to return to the recording studio, but as Variety points out, Aerosmith hasn't released an album as a group in more than a decade: most recently, Music From Another Dimension was released in 2012, while Tyler had a single in 2016. /ANSA
