During the spring session, the Assembly of Kosovo approved only 1 percent of the legislative agenda for 2024. The people's elected officials, especially the majority, are being criticized for poor work efficiency and failure of parliamentary supervision. In the ruling party, the Vetëvendosje Movement, they reason that during this year they had a problem with the quorum, but they blame the opposition parties as well. However, according to them, this legislature as a whole has approved about 254 laws, which according to them are more than the previous legislatures.

The researcher at the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI), Arbër Thaçi, tells KosovaPress that this session was among the weakest of the eighth legislature in the Assembly.

According to him, in total during this session, the parliamentary majority has managed to approve 35 draft laws, of which 20 are international agreements and only three of them are part of the legislative agenda of 2024

The monitor of the work of the Assembly adds that the people's elected officials also failed in the parliamentary supervision of the executive but also of the independent agencies that are elected by the Assembly.

The LVV deputy, Armend Muja, also accepts the challenges during the spring session of the Assembly, but adds that, as a whole, more laws have been approved during their mandate than in the previous legislatures.

Criticism of the majority for failure to fulfill the legislative agenda was also addressed by the opposition parties during this week.

The Assembly of Kosovo concluded its spring session on July 31, while MPs are expected to return from vacation in the second week of September.
