The topic of the opening of the Ibri Bridge has again become a matter of discussion.

While the institutions of Kosovo are asking for the same to be opened, the international community is saying that the opening of the Ibri Bridge should be part of the dialogue.

Even today, in a meeting that the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, had with the representatives of the QUINT countries, they were told by the latter that they do not support the opening of the Ibri bridge in Mitrovica at this time.

But, despite the opposition of the QUINT and NATO countries, Kurti said that "the bridge must be opened".

"She is at the service of everyone and is not against anyone. Freedom of movement and the rule of law do not endanger peace and security, on the contrary", says the communique of the Government of Kosovo issued after the meeting.

The former Minister of Administration and Local Government, Sadri Ferati, says that the opening of the Ibri Bridge should be part of the dialogue.

Ferati, tells KosovaPress that the Ibri Bridge and the entire situation in the north is not only a matter of legality, but rather it is a political problem because it is related to the opposition of a part of the citizens of that part.

"This issue should be part of both a reconciliation and a dialogue. First of all, with the international community and the EULEX and KFOR missions, but also with the international community as a whole so that it can exert pressure on Belgrade. So, in my opinion, the Ibri Bridge should be part of the dialogue, even because it is the right of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to insist on something like this". Ferati told KosovaPress.

Meanwhile, regarding the statement of the QUINT countries, Ferati stated that the latter want this in order not to create tensions.

Meanwhile, political analyst Albinot Maloku stated that the issue of the Ibri Bridge was an issue and part of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia years ago.

And that the same according to Malok, is not that it has been respected.

Until, it says that this topic should not be reintroduced into the dialogue.

The European Union, meanwhile, said on Thursday that the issue of opening the Ibri bridge should be a topic of dialogue with Serbia.

This was opposed by the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who stated that "such a thing would be a serious violation of sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutionality in our country".

And, for this, the analyst Maloku declares that the European Union should be reminded that the opening of the Ibri Bridge was part of the dialogue and that it should be insisted that the agreements be implemented.

The main bridge over the river Ibër since 1999 divides Mitrovica into the southern part, inhabited by an Albanian majority, and the northern part, inhabited by a Serbian majority.
