Two police officers in Peja have been suspended on the recommendation of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo under suspicion of exceeding their authority.

According to the initial information that IPK investigators received last night, it is suspected that police officials tried to temporarily release a suspect for illegal possession of weapons, who was arrested by the police in Peja and was in the detention center at the police station of this city.

IPK investigators have immediately responded to the case and have undertaken preliminary investigative actions in consultation with the State Prosecutor's Office.

In the framework of the investigation and other actions of an administrative nature, the IPK has recommended to the Kosovo Police the measure of suspension for the two police officers suspected in this case.

The PIK, in full coordination with the State Prosecutor's Office, will continue to undertake other investigative actions towards the complete illumination of all the circumstances related to this case, the communiqué states.
