Lawyers in Kosovo and the KLA War Veterans Organization do not believe that the North Macedonian authorities will extradite former KLA soldier Blerim Ramadan to Serbia.

Ramadani was arrested by the Police of North Macedonia on July 17, based on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia.

The extradition detention measure of 30 days was set for the same immediately the next day by the decision of the Basic Court in Skopje.

However, the lawyer Arbër Jahari declares for KosovaPress that North Macedonia is clear that the persecution of former KLA soldiers from Serbia is based on fabricated files.

And, he says that he does not believe that the courts in Macedonia will decide in favor of Ramadan's extradition to Serbia.

However, he declares that even if the Court decides in favor of Ramadan's extradition, then according to Jashari, no minister of North Macedonia will sign such a decision.

On the other hand, the institutions of Kosovo are demanding his release.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has even announced that the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Skopje has engaged a team of legal experts for the fastest possible release of Blerim Ramadani and his return to his family.

From this department, they have announced that the institutions of Kosovo will use all diplomatic channels to ensure the release of our citizen.

However, lawyer Jashari declares for KosovaPress that Kosovo cannot request the extradition of Blerim Ramadan, as long as there is no criminal case filed against him.

However, the vice president of the OVL KLA Branch, the branch in Ferizaj, Luan Jahiri, through a written answer, says that what happened to the former KLA soldier, Blerim Ramadanin, is disturbing.

However, he says that they believe that Ramadan will be released and will not be extradited to Serbia.

On July 25 in Ferizaj, a popular protest was held with the motto "Freedom for the liberator", in support of fellow fighter from Ferizaj, Blerim Ramadani.

The protest was organized by the Organization of War Veterans of the Liberation Army, branch in Ferizaj, together with family members of the nation's martyrs, disabled and veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army, MPs, former KLA superiors and citizens.

Blerim Ramadani was detained on July 17, 2024 at the Jazhinca border crossing, based on an arrest warrant issued by the Court of Belgrade, through INTERPOL Serbia, with the claim of war crimes in the summer of 1999 in the Nerodima region.
