The head of the Branch of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo in Peja, Ali Berisha, has invited the Prosecutor's Office to investigate the municipality of Peja after the Auditor's report on the findings in this municipality.

He said that the Prosecutor's Office should start investigations and those responsible should face the law.

Berisha also mentioned the findings of this report.

"If we speak from the data of this report, there are three aspects that indicate a very poor performance during 2023, namely, the audit opinion is qualified as a qualified opinion, which means a negative opinion for the municipality of Peja, which is that during the audit, misstatements and mismanagement of public money and non-compliance with the legal framework were discovered. We have an increase in the number of recommendations from the auditor for the municipality of Peja and we have a total non-implementation of recommendations from 2022. The reason for the qualification of the opinion lies in the fact that the municipality had misclassified capital expenditures in the amount of 1 million 32 thousand 580 euros. of which over 900 thousand euros were executed for court decisions. The Municipality of Peja, from the category of capital investments, has paid 937 euros for salaries and wages, while 769 euros for goods and services. The municipality of Peja has in many cases violated the procurement law by initiating procurement procedures without sufficient funds only by starting projects without sufficient budget for their completion, only to deceive the citizens that they are completing the projects. Example, the construction of the water supply in the villages of the Barani trough, where the project costs 30 million 448 thousand 1 euros with only 377 thousand 859 euros being pledged. The construction and asphalting of Varri i Sykut road in Bellopaq, which costs 200 euros, with only 000 euros pledged. This has also happened in many other projects, such as the Asllanqeshme project, the gym project in Zahaq, the construction of the dam in Vranoc and other projects," stated Berisha.

According to Ali Berisha, the Municipality of Peja had obvious weaknesses in the allocation and management of subsidies.

"The municipality of Peja had obvious weaknesses in the allocation and management of subsidies, the municipality of Peja has not appointed a responsible official who should take care of monitoring the implementation of projects. He allocated subsidies to various associations and did not monitor how these funds of the citizens of Peja are being spent by these associations financed by the municipality. The Municipality of Peja has had serious weaknesses in the management of projects through the electronic platform of e-procurement. The municipality of Peja has failed to register its assets and has failed to draw up an internal regulation for the management of non-financial assets of this municipality", said Berisha.

For all these findings from the Auditor for the municipality of Peja, Berisha has invited the Prosecutor's Office to start investigations.

"Based on this audit and the audit report, we invite the state prosecutor's office to take measures against all those who are degrading the municipality of Peja, both in terms of managing public money, implementing projects, abusing official positions, in so that once and for all the extreme degradation in the municipal government of Peja is stopped", said Ali Berisha, among other things.

Meanwhile, he rejected the rumors when he was asked about a possible coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo.

"The voices that are coming out are from the propaganda channels of the president Gazmend Muhaxheri, the result of the reality that the government has slipped away from. There is not and will not be a coalition with the LDK, with Muhaxheri, not now, not in the fall, not ever. We are working every day for the 2025 local elections, which we will win as the first party, while after those elections we are talking about coalitions in the new Assembly, but LDK will then go on hiatus", declared Ali Berisha.
