AUV intercepts 26 tons of melted meat from Brazil that was coming to Kosovo

The veterinary inspectorate of the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), during the inspection check at the border control point "Port of Durrës", encountered a load of thawed beef.

AUV, through a press release, announced that because this contradicts the legal criteria of product safety, the inspector immediately decided to reject the import.

"According to the cargo certificate and the declaration-label of the product, it had to be stored at a temperature below -18 degrees. In view of the measuring equipment of the transport vehicle, and additional measurements with the inspector's own equipment. It turned out that the product was not stored in accordance with the legal norms established for the maximum temperature levels for frozen products. It is also observed visually that the cargo is leaking as a result of the cooling device not working properly," the AUV announcement states.

The announcement further states that the cargo originates from the state of Brazil, a frozen beef product in the amount of 26 kg gross.

"Transported by anie, the product placed in a refrigerated container, dedicated to the transport of food goods. The vigilance and professionalism of the inspector in the case has made the load to be detected quickly, at the same time the measure, the action is in accordance with the procedure and the laws in force. All the time, AUV, in cooperation with Customs and the Police of Kosovo, work to ensure that each load, which is destined for the market of our country, receives all the professional evaluations based on the laws in advance. Which guarantee that the products intended for consumption are safe", the announcement states.

"Regardless of the season, the place of entry of the cargo. All are checked with maximum dedication. Always fulfilling the duties to protect public health. The cargo is blocked and under the supervision of the border authorities of Kosovo. Which will be returned to the country of origin or according to the procedure, if the party submits a request for disposal, the disposal is carried out under supervision", it is stated at the end of the announcement.
