The Law on the Independent Media Commission completely destroys the constitutional independence of this institution, transforming this institution as a subordinate institution of the Assembly and easily influenced by the Government. This is how it was emphasized in the report "Politicization of the KPM", by the Kosovo Institute for Law (IKD) through the analysis of the Law on the Independent Media Commission, which the Assembly of Kosovo approved on July 11, 2024.

The researcher at IKD, Florian Smajli, has said that from the findings they have made, it can be seen that this approach of the new law of the IPC is dangerous and directly violates the values and principles of democracy embodied in the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

Also from the findings, Smajli has said that IKD has found that the increase in the number of members is a decision unsupported by a real analysis and does not coincide with the need for adequate functioning of the IPC.

Meanwhile, the senior researcher at IKD, Gzim Shala, has emphasized that the politicization of the KPM takes place through this draft law, while adding that the approval of this law was preceded by a fierce campaign against the KPM, where exponents of the political party in power have also accused of national treason.

Meanwhile, he added that if the same would go to the president for decree, the president would have to apply her constitutional right to return the bill to the Assembly.
