The Apollo program on July 16, 1969, launched the first astronaut mission from Earth to the Moon.

Apollo 11 takes off from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The mission was a costly American undertaking, with the participation of about 400 thousand scientists, technicians and engineers, and a cost of 100 billion dollars.
