The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo has published the report of the extraordinary inspection related to "Evaluation of the treatment and proceedings of cases of drug trafficking".
In the framework of the report, the IPK has given 11 recommendations, which are related to the need to exercise controls over investigators so that reporting on criminal offenses is also practiced through notification reports, the compilation of investigation plans, regular and complete reporting on the implementation of measures covert investigation and surveillance, file completion and maintenance, securing retroactive warrants to enforce house/facility and vehicle searches, documenting field tests of narcotic substances, interviewing suspects and potential witnesses, administering evidence in separate rooms, increasing efficiency and effectiveness in handling cases, etc.
The findings of this inspection are of interest to the relevant police structure, including the management and investigative level.
The inspection was carried out at the request of the Investigations Department of the IPK and with the authorization of the Chief Executive Officer of the IPK. The inspection is focused on the Narcotics Trafficking Investigation Directorate, with special emphasis on the two Narcotics Investigation Units in Prizren and Gjakovë.
The inspection is focused on police investigative actions, cooperation with the State Prosecutor's Office, implementation of authorizations and ordinances, administration of evidence, time management of investigations, maintenance of evidence and files, etc.
