The President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev has visited the International Armored Group (IAG) armored vehicle production plant in Burgas.

Radev and his wife, Desislava Radeva, were welcomed by the founder and owner of IAG Anton Stefov, who informed them about the plans and possibilities of the investment project, the press secretariat of the head of state said on Thursday.

The factory is expected to open on October 1 and employ mainly Bulgarian specialists. The project envisages the production of various types of armored vehicles in accordance with NATO standards and drones for rescue, reconnaissance and emergency teams.

The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, was also present, whose municipality is tasked with building the infrastructure of the plant in the industrial area of ​​the Black Sea city.

During Radev's visit, the training of qualified personnel in Bulgaria and the contribution of the defense industry to economic growth and employment were discussed. The President emphasized the importance of industrial cooperation, the advancement of logistics and the opportunities to support defense capabilities in the process of modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.

The implementation of high-tech solutions in the production of protective equipment and the involvement of the scientific community were discussed. /BTA
