Messi ready for the semi-final of the America's Cup
Argentina captain Lionel Messi will be ready to play in Tuesday's Copa America semifinal against Canada in New Jersey, coach Lionel Scaloni said, despite the forward's hamstring concerns.
Messi returned to action on Thursday in Argentina's quarter-final win against Ecuador after missing the final group stage match through injury. He played the whole game but looked physically hampered.
"Leo Messi is fine, he finished training well, so he will be part of the match, we are calm," Scaloni told a news conference on Monday ahead of the semi-final match at MetLife Stadium.
"His level looks good. He is essential for us," he added, according to KosovaPress.
Argentina and Canada will meet for the second time in the tournament after the defending champions beat the CONCACAF side 2-0 in their Group A opener.
Scaloni said this time he and his Canadian counterpart Jesse Marsch will try to try "something different".
"All coaches take notes to correct mistakes and hurt our opponents," said the 46-year-old manager.
