A former Liverpool player could be in line to be named Borussia Dortmund's new manager following Edin Terzic's surprise resignation.
Dortmund confirmed Terzic had left the club on Thursday, just over a week after leading the Bundesliga side to the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Real won 2:0 at Wembley to deny their opponents a second European crown, after winning the competition for the first time in 1997, reports KosovaPress."After the match at Wembley, I asked for a meeting with the club's senior management team, because after 10 years at BVB - including five on the coaching staff and two and a half as a coach - I think the new era of the club must begin," he said. Terzic in a club statement.
"Everyone close to me knows that this has been a very difficult decision for me to make in recent weeks, but after intensive discussions my basic feeling has not changed," Terzic continued.
Sahin spent a short time on loan at Anfield from Real Madrid during the 2012/13 season. He made just 12 appearances during his spell in the Premier League, scoring three goals in the process.
Since retiring from football in 2022, the 35-year-old has moved into coaching and previously coached Turkish side Antalyaspor. He left the club in December 2023 to join Terzic's staff as assistant manager.
