Italy supports the US plan for a cease-fire in Gaza

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Monday that Italy supports US efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza "with great conviction".

"It is time to finally have this ceasefire that will make it possible to release the hostages and send aid to the Palestinian civilian population," Tajani told Sky television.

"We support this mediation and hope that Israel and Hamas agree to at least this initial attempt to suspend the war."

He added that Italy's ninth aid package for Ukraine, including military aid, as it fights Russian occupation forces was only "a few days" away./ANSA/
