In order to strengthen the ties between the diaspora and Kosovo, the head of Kosovar diplomacy, Donika Gërvalla, met with Albanian diaspora in Hamilton and Ottawa, Canada.

In the conversation held in Ottawa, Minister Gërvalla participated in the opening of the exhibition of the painter Zeqirja Rexhepi, appreciating his contribution and that of our diaspora in raising our image in the world.

The talks brought a fruitful and inspiring debate to discuss the role and contribution of the emigrants in the development and progress of Kosovo.

Gërvalla was pleased with the wide participation and interest shown by the expatriate community in Canada.

The discussion focused on the importance of close ties with the diaspora and the need to strengthen cooperation in all areas.

Minister Gërvalla emphasized that emigrants play a key role in the economic, social and political development of Kosovo.

She encouraged the emigrants to engage in the political and economic life of the country, giving special importance to their contribution to the construction of democracy and the rule of law in Kosovo.

The government's initiatives to strengthen ties with the diaspora, such as the Law on Diaspora and the public diplomacy program "Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship", were also in focus.

The discussion was also accompanied by the presentation of opportunities for active participation of emigrants in the political life of Kosovo and the organization of voting in embassies and consulates in Canada.

At the end of the talks, films were shown as part of the Kosovo Culture week in Canada, on the 25th anniversary of the reception of refugees from Kosovo in Canada and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
