The president of the Albanian Football Federation has spoken once again about the joint candidacy with Serbia to organize the European Football Championship for the U21 age group in 2027.

This decision of the Albanian Football Federation was met with great reactions and opposition in Kosovo, considering it as an urgent decision.

But, in an interview for the show "Opinion" on TopChannel, Duka said that the cooperation came because eight stadiums are needed, which Albania could not offer alone.

"We have applied to have the European Championship of 21-year-olds in 2027 in cooperation between Albania and Serbia. We will be joint candidates. Turkey is also one of the candidates. A minimum of eight stadiums are needed to host a European championship. We currently have four stadiums, we have "Air Albania", "Elbasan Arena", "Loro Boriçin" and "Kukës Arena" which is in the same category, the fourth category where international matches can take place. And we have to build three more stadiums in Vlorë, Korçë and Durrës", said Duka

He added that above all it is the sporting aspect, but that in the end we must live in peace with each other.

We intend to organize a football championship that is a sport, but at the end of the day it is also a sport from a political point of view. At the end of the day, we must live in peace with each other", stressed the Duke.

On the other hand, the Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Kosovo, Hajrulla Çeku, told KosovaPress on Wednesday that there was no communication with Kosovo regarding the possibility of a joint application for this organization.
