The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has declared on today's vote for the dismissal or not of the four Albanian presidents in the north. She said in a post on Facebook that with the organization of today's process, Kosovo has met all the conditions required by the EU. "Unjust measures against Kosovo must be removed immediately. Kosovo gave the citizens of the northern municipalities the opportunity to remove the current mayors and elect new mayors. Citizens largely did not take advantage of this opportunity. Unfortunately, this mainly happened due to pressure from Belgrade, executed by the Serbian List and illegal criminal structures. Once again, Serbia illegally interfered in another country's election process. One more time, Vuçiqviolated the word he had given to international partners", Osmani wrote.

The head of the country said that Kosovo once again proved prudence, organization and full respect of the laws and the constitution, offering all communities, without distinction, the opportunity to choose for themselves who they want to represent them. Osmani thanked the Central Election Commission, the security institutions, as well as the partners for their work, dedication and cooperation. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that the initiative to dismiss the mayors of northern municipalities in Kosovo has failed, as 50 percent plus 1 of the voters did not participate in this process. Kreshnik Radoniqi, chairman of the CEC, announced that only 253 people participated in today's voting process.

In the municipality of Leposaviq, 124 voters voted, out of 13.674 voters or 0.91%, in the municipality of Zubin Potok, 18 voters voted out of 6,877 or 0.26%, in the municipality of Zveçan, no voter voted, out of 7.209 or 0%. In the municipality of North Mitrovica, 111 voters voted out of 18.796 or 0.59%. "We inform you that the majority of registered voters did not vote as required by Article 72 of the Law on Local Self-Government in the Republic of Kosovo, that is, the necessary 50% was not reached, therefore we conclude that the citizens' initiative for the removal of the mayors of Leposaviq, Zubin municipalities Potok, Zveçan and North Mitrovica has failed", said Radoniqi.

In 2023, the European Union imposed punitive measures against Kosovo, because no actions were taken to improve the situation in the north. The EU has temporarily suspended the work within the Stabilization-Association Agreement and Kosovo will also not be invited to the high-level meetings.
