Kosovo and Albania together will be part of an important energy and regional block of economic, political and geopolitical importance. This was said at the official ceremony organized by the Operator of the Transmission System and Electricity Market of Kosovo (KOSTT) on behalf of the Albanian Electricity Exchange - ALPEX, on the occasion of the functionalization of the One Day Ahead Market for the Bidding Area of ​​Kosovo and the Union of Kosovo-Albania Electricity Markets.

The Prime Minister of the country, Albin Kurti, said that this is a historic moment for the energy sector for both countries, as according to him, this will have a role in economic development as well as transparency in the energy sector.

He said that the deepening of cross-border cooperation is one of the best methods to face the challenges and difficulties in this sector.

Kurti also said that the common market creates new business opportunities and that the merger of the Kosovo-Albania electricity markets is a strategic step for a more efficient energy ecosystem.

Meanwhile, speaking about the importance of this event, the head of the Government said that through this cooperation, a more favorable environment for attracting foreign investments will be created.

He also spoke about the last energy crisis, for which he said that it has not gone to waste, as according to him, the lessons and experience gained are turning into cooperation and new opportunities.

Meanwhile, in her speech, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli says that this is, has been and remains a permanent historical aspiration of Kosovo to make politics in the energy sector in such a way that it sees and appreciates this complementarity and develops it even further.

That this union is important is expressed by the chief executive of KOSTT, Evetar Zeqiri, adding that this would not be achieved without the far-sighted vision of both governments, the endless support of the respective ministries of the two countries.

He said that this agreement is the epilogue of a reform process of over two decades in the energy sector.
