Between January 11 and 12, 1984, 33-year-old Rexhep Malaj, less than eight months after he was released from a nine-year prison term, together with his friend Nuhi Berisha, who was a 23-year-old student at the time and a participant in the 1981 demonstrations, fell heroically in combat with the Serbian forces on the "Hill of the Brave" in Pristina.
Originally from the Municipality of Kamenica, as a student, on the initiative of Rexhep Mala and other collaborators, the Student Committee was formed within the Revolutionary Group, which will serve the Albanian Liberation Movement as the first nucleus for the student spring of 1981.Today, collaborators, comrades-in-arms, fellow villagers and the whole of Kosovo speak proudly of the patriotic work of Rexhep Mala, although we encounter the name of Mala and Berisha on many streets, which proudly bear their name, we encounter it in many squares and educational centers -educational, the city barracks in Gjilan proudly bears the name of the core of the KLA Rexhep Mala and Nuhi Berisha.
Mala and Berisha had a clear vision for the future of Kosovo and the right courage to act against the then regime. They are valued as two of the central figures of the resistance and efforts of the Albanian people of Kosovo for freedom and independence, and are valued for their bravery, high sacrifice and organizational skills. /KosovaPress/
