The emissary of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, has said that in the coming days he will focus on finding a way forward, while calling Sunday's attack on policemen in the north of Kosovo an act of cowardice.

He wrote that "this terrible attack further emphasizes the necessity of diplomacy and preventive dialogue".

"Such a cowardly act of violence is deeply disturbing and goes against the very principles of peace and cooperation. My heart goes out to the victims, their families, friends and colleagues. This horrific attack further emphasizes the need for diplomacy and preventive dialogue, emphasized last week when I attended the UN General Assembly's high-level week in New York... It was great to be back in UN, but after a week of "global speed meetings" it was time to return to Brussels. In the coming days, I will fully focus on finding a way forward", wrote Lajçak.

In the early hours of the morning on Sunday, the sergeant of the Kosovo Police, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed, while other policemen were injured.

The serious incident took place in the village of Banjska in Zveçan, where Serbian terrorists attacked the police patrol.

Three attackers were killed while six people were arrested.

The institutions of Kosovo have stated that the action in search of the attackers is continuing.
