The Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is headed for a deadlock, after the failure to reach an agreement at the high-level meeting on September 14 in Brussels. The concretization of opposing positions on the sequencing of the implementation of the Brussels and Ohrid agreement has placed the dialogue in an uncertain future.

In the ruling party, the Vetëvendosje Movement, they say that the mediators of the dialogue have deviated from the basic agreement and to restart the process, a balancing approach to the dialogue is needed. Meanwhile, the opposition criticizes Prime Minister Albin Kurti that through his wrong approach to dialogue, he is damaging relations with international allies. The further continuation of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is viewed with doubt even by those familiar with this process.

The deputy of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Armend Muja, tells KosovaPress that the solution to the current impasse in the dialogue should be done through a balanced approach of the high representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, and the emissary for dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak.

He says that the annex of the Ohrid agreement should be implemented point by point, but de-facto recognition should be placed in the center to avoid any obstruction from Serbia.

However, the deputy of AAK, Pal Lekaj, sees the public criticism of Prime Minister Albin Kurti against the dialogue mediators as wrong.

According to him, after the American support to the mediators of the dialogue, the consequences for Kosovo will be observed.

On the other hand, the political analyst, Albinot Maloku, tells KosovaPress that the European Union must find a creative solution to get out of the current situation in dialogue.

He underlines that models with sanctions should not be part of the continuation of the dialogue.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vuçiq on September 14, they had the last meeting in the framework of the dialogue in Brussels. There was no result from the meeting mediated by the high representative of the EU, Josep Borrell and the emissary of the EU for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

Kurti said that he has proposed a sequenced plan for the implementation of the agreement, while criticizing the dialogue mediators and the Serbian president. Vuçiq that they only insisted on the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

However, the representative of the USA for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has given support to the mediators of the dialogue, Borrell and Lajçak, while he has asked for constructive measures from the Kosovar side.
