The Government of Kosovo has stated that the joint meeting with Albania was unilaterally canceled by the latter. Spokesperson Përparim Kryeziu spoke for KosovaPress, emphasizing that 13 new agreements would have to be signed tomorrow in Gjakovë.
A day before the meeting of the two governments, the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has stated that such a meeting cannot be held at a time when, according to him, "Kosovo is burning in international reputation".
While the spokesperson of the Kosovar executive has said that the bilateral meetings could be held every other day.
"Bilateral meetings could be held every other day. We are quite close to each other as countries. It wouldn't be the first time we would meet in the same day. But it is the first time that a joint meeting is canceled unilaterally", said the spokesperson of the Government.
"The joint meetings are great organizational undertakings, which were preceded by a great deal of work by the ministries to prepare that day. Tomorrow, 13 new agreements would have to be signed. They were intended to bring our economies, our systems of justice, education, culture, etc. closer together. It is the citizens who will lose the most. "Unfortunately, Prime Minister Rama's cancellation of the meeting canceled the opportunity to sign them," said Kryeziu.
Last week, the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, announced that he submitted a draft of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Regarding this, Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated, emphasizing that "I have no doubt that the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, believes that his proposal for the draft statute is good, and that being the case, what I propose is that Prime Minister Rama this draft for minorities to propose to the president of Serbia, Alexander Vuçiq at the next meeting of the "Open Balkans" for Albanians in Presheva, Medvegja and Bujanoc".
