Over 5500 police officers guard the election facilities

5511 police officers will be committed to guarding the election facilities in Albania during today (Sunday). While a total of 7530 policemen have been trained and will engage in duties during the election process.

The State Police will protect 57 important objects in this process with the commitment of 192 police officers from the "Commando" forces.

The same will intervene if requested by the election commissions or the CEC.

In Albania, the local elections are held today (Sunday) where about 140 candidates will aim to take the leadership of 61 municipalities in all of Albania.

From 7:00 in the morning, the voting centers are opened, and citizens are invited to make their choice for the 61 new mayors as well as for the representatives of the municipal councils.

In these local elections, according to data from the Central Election Commission, 3.650.550 Albanian citizens have the right to vote, while 122.545 voters are voting for the first time. In 61 municipalities of the country, 5.211 polling stations will be open from 07:00 to 19:00.
