Calls for a penalty to be awarded to Arsenal early in their Premier League clash with Manchester City were rejected by VAR despite protests from the London side's players and fans.

City's goalkeeper Ederson brought down midfielder Martin Odegaard before the 10th minute of the match, when the latter was inside the 16-yard box, reports KosovaPress.

It was clear that Odegaard had touched the ball in front of Ederson, and a VAR review showed that it could not be denied that Odegaard was tripped by the Brazilian keeper.

However, the VAR also showed that Odegaard had made contact with Ederson first, and not the other way around.

After the final check by VAR it was found that the decision on the field was in order and that there was no need for it to be corrected or for referee Atwell to look at it himself on the VAR monitor.

This decision was hardly acceptable for the Arsenal team, where the latter suffered a defeat in today's match against City with a narrow score of 2:1.

Odegaard's penalty case can be found below.
