Arsenal and Aston Villa have parted ways peacefully, playing without a winner 2:2, in the 22nd round of the English Premier League in football.

Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring for the home team with a goal in the 35th minute and Kai Havertz doubled the Gunners' lead in the 55th minute. Leandro Trossard assisted on both goals.

Youri Tielemans reduced Arsenal's advantage in the 60th minute, while eight minutes later Ollie Watkins equalised for the big turnaround and an important point for coach Unai Emery's team.

In the 87th minute, the home fans cheered when Havertz struck the net, but VAR disallowed the goal after the German had handled the ball.

Mikel Merino almost became an Arsenal hero three minutes later, but hit the post.

Liverpool, who beat Brentford 2-0 away today, remain top of the table with 50 points, but have a game in hand. Arsenal are second with 44.

Aston Villa are ranked seventh, but given the large concentration of points of the clubs at the top of the table, the Birmingham club hopes to secure qualification for the Champions League for the second consecutive season.
