The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo has announced that a police officer who caused an accident in Novosella, Peja, while intoxicated, has been arrested and suspended from work.

The investigators of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate have received information from the Kosovo Police yesterday evening through the Blue Line (toll-free phone number 080003333) regarding a traffic accident with bodily injuries between two civilian vehicles in which an official was also involved. police (off-duty with a private car).

Upon receiving the information, PIK investigators have begun to undertake the initial investigative actions in coordination with the guardian prosecutor.

According to initial investigations, the accident was reported to have happened yesterday in the village of Novosellë in Peja (near the customs terminal).

After the investigative actions and after the alcohol test, on the suspicion of having committed the criminal offense "Driving while incapacitated or drunk", the suspect (police officer) was arrested by the IPK, to whom the prosecutor has issued a decree of detention for 48 hours.

As part of the investigative administrative procedure, the police officer has been suspended from work.

Other actions will be taken in accordance with the legal authorizations of the PIK and in coordination with the competent prosecution.
