Carlo Ancelotti would apparently like to see Real Madrid make transfers in the winter. But the bosses think otherwise.
Despite the summer signings of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, Real Madrid have yet to show their best form this season. The Madrid side are second in La Liga, 20th in the Champions League and recently lost 5-2 to FC Barcelona in the Super Cup final.
Concerns about a lack of consistency in defence have increased this season after injuries to Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, while David Alaba was on the bench in the Super Cup final for the first time since rupturing a ligament in December 2023.
According to The Athletic, Carlo Ancelotti has made no secret of his desire for reinforcements this month as he fears Real will otherwise fail to meet their 2024/25 targets - but this opinion is not shared by those in charge, KosovaPress reported.
Club officials are of the opinion that no significant signings should be made in the January transfer window - the last signing of the winter was the purchase of Brazilian midfielder Reinier for 30 million euros in 2020.It has been agreed that a new centre-back and a right-back are needed in the January transfer window. Madrid are still interested in Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and had even considered a move in the winter, but that was rejected.
"These are discussions that we are having with the club so that Madrid can remain competitive. I don't think it's right to talk here about what I am discussing with the club," Ancelotti told a news conference on Wednesday. When asked specifically if he needed new signings, he replied: "I'm not answering you."
