The Information and Privacy Agency reiterates its request to political parties to protect citizens' personal data in communications via electronic mail (e-mail), text messages (SMS) and telephone calls, without prior consent.
According to the Agency for Information and Privacy (AIP), in fulfillment of its legal mandate for the protection of personal data of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, it reiterates its request to Political Parties in Kosovo for the protection of personal data during the election campaign for the elections of February 9, 2025.
The announcement states that in order to ensure the implementation of the law, the Agency requires Political Parties to implement legal obligations for the protection of citizens' personal data by not using and exposing personal data in communications via electronic mail (e-mail), messages (SMS) and telephone calls, without prior consent.
"The agency offers cooperation with all political entities to ensure respect for the right to protection of personal data of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and calls for any personal information collected during the voter registration process, for the purpose of communicating with citizens during election campaign activities, to be used in accordance with legal requirements," the announcement states.
Parliamentary elections in Kosovo are being held this Sunday, February 9th.
