As part of the activities of the 16 Days of Activism, the documentary Nice Ladies was shown today, dedicated to women's resistance during the war in Ukraine as a result of Russia's unjustified military aggression.

At the opening of this event organized by the Kosovar Center for Gender Studies, the director of this center Luljeta Demolli said that as an organization they stand in solidarity and support the women of Ukraine in their cause.

"The film has a theme that is our position as an organization that supports Ukrainian women for their cause. We have found 16 Days of Activism to show this film", said Demolli.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands in Pristina, Karin Boven, said that this film reflects the war and its impact on the lives of Ukrainian women.

"Human rights are the basis of democracy. We will see this documentary with the fight and unbreakable bond of these cheerleaders. This film reflects the war in Ukraine that affects their lives," said Boven.

A panel discussion was also held after the screening of the documentary film. The former ambassador of Kosovo in Hungary, Luljeta Vuniqi, has spoken about the similarities between the scenes of the current war in Ukraine and that of the war 25 years ago in Kosovo.

"In many ways I find myself and many people of Kosovo who have experienced similar situations. A touching story, but at the same time encouraging and empowering. Despite the war, despite the uncertainty, fear, pain, all that I can say about the war and its consequences, they showed their free spirit and resisted to fight for freedom", said Vuniqi.

Director Blerta Zeqiri said that the resistance of women during the war in Kosovo has been shown and documented very little.

"It is a very moving film, very beautifully and delicately made. During the time that I was watching the film, that professional inside me felt very good that in Ukraine at this time this resistance of women is also being documented... Very little is talked about, documented and very little is shown about this part (in Kosovo). Times have changed all over the world, including in Kosovo and everywhere, and women's voices are being heard everywhere," said Zeqiri.

Serbian investigative journalist Haxhiaj has spoken about her experiences during the war in Kosovo.

"It brought me back that anxiety when we left the deadline at 18:00 and the journalists were anxious that the alarm would be sounded and we were afraid that some of them would not be alive. It has many similarities with us. I see a much greater strength to stand strong towards their victory," she said.
