The informal organization of Belgrade high schools, PULS, has organized a protest tonight in the Serbian capital.

The protest began with 17 minutes of silence, honoring the victims of the railway station canopy collapse on November 1, 2024 in Novi Sad and the victims of the fire on March 16 in Kočani, North Macedonia.

Paying homage to the victims, the rally participants kept their phone lights on. Representatives of this informal organization at the rally in “London” came from Terazije e Slavia, the Ministry of Education and the Constitutional Court, Serbian media report.

The protest comes after Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçiq told the Washington Examiner today that protesters on March 15 in Belgrade "destroyed 186 tractors," which his regime had actually brought in to prevent the protest from taking place, reports KosovaPress.

"The only big fight they had was among themselves, no one responded, we didn't want to arrest anyone. In the end we had to arrest 44 people. 13 of them were arrested for being drunk or inciting violence," the Serbian president stressed.

Protests in Serbia erupted after a railway shelter collapsed in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024, killing 15 people and injuring several others. In a major protest in Belgrade on March 15, protesters were charged with acoustic ball which caused them to leave the streets.
