The head of the Albanian National Council, Nevzad Lutfiu, has criticized the action of Alternative for Change, which according to him has sent a letter to the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights in Belgrade, through which he has informed them of the opening of the competition for subsidizing crops agricultural from the fund of the Republic of Kosovo for the Albanians of the Valley.
"On November 11, 2024, the political entity Alternative for Change (APN) sent a letter to the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights in Belgrade, through which it informed them that the Albanian National Council has opened a competition for subsidizing agricultural crops (from the Fund of of the Republic of Kosovo for the Albanians of the Valley). After this letter, yesterday the Ministry of Human Rights and Minorities addressed us with a letter where it asks the NKSH to respond within 8 days to which legal provision we were called in connection with the opening of the competition for subsidizing agricultural crops , and in the same request, the Ministry threatens that if the NKSH does not cancel the decision, then the Ministry itself will do it", he said.
Luftiu said that he will not cancel any decision, adding that he has taken every action with full awareness in order to support the Albanian families who survive from this sector.
"This action of APN risks hundreds of Albanian farmers being left without support. The great hypocrisy lies in the fact that some of the APN actors themselves have applied to benefit from this competition. We will respond to the Ministry within the specified period. I have informed the Government of the Republic of Kosovo about these developments, in case this process is blocked by the Ministry, we will ask for reciprocity measures", he wrote.
Regarding this, the only Albanian deputy in the Serbian Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, reacted.
According to him, a new discriminatory measure against Albanians in the Presheva Valley is being prepared by the "Croatian puppet of Alexander Vuçiqit, the Minister for Human Rights and Minorities, Tomislav Zhigmanov".
"He has asked the National Council to cancel the competition announced for subsidies in agriculture, funds intended by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, within the framework of the institutional support that the Republic of Kosovo is offering to the Albanians in the Presheva Valley. "Zhigmanov has threatened that he and his ministry will cancel the KNSH election if the latter does not cancel it," he said.
Kamberi has further said that with this new threat that official Belgrade is giving to all Albanians, it is trying to hinder the influence of the Republic of Kosovo in the Presheva Valley, to kill any hope for a better perspective of Albanians and prevent the recovery of the farmer, cattle breeder, craft, media, civil sector and every other sphere here that can be helped by the RKS budget in The valley.
"This letter of initiation by an Albanian political entity, which seeks help from Belgrade to prevent the influence of Kosovo in the Presheva Valley, is being posed as a serious obstacle to the realization, not only of subsidies in agriculture, but of the entire Fund that Kosovo shared for the Presheva Valley. "Alternative for Change, over the years, has been witnessing a clientelistic and submissive policy towards Belgrade, but to ask for help from Belgrade to prevent the aid that Kosovo brings to the Valley, this takes this clientelism to another level," wrote Kamberi.
Kamberi estimates that this is another case that proves the necessity of establishing reciprocity in rights between the Albanians in the Presheva Valley and the Serbs in Kosovo.
Otherwise, according to him, any other solution opens up new conflicts.
"The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will have to use this case of flagrant discrimination in the next meetings in Brussels, while Albania officially addresses it through international forums. In this battle with Serbia, the Albanians of the Valley expect the help of the opposition position in Pristina and the opposition position in Tirana. The internationals should not be silent about this inhumane act", he demanded.
