The US Embassy in Ukraine issued a security alert on Sunday, December 8, warning American citizens of increased threats from Russian missiles and drones.
As Ukrinform reports, the security alert has been published on the website of the Embassy.
"Due to increased threats from Russian missiles and drones targeting critical civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, the US Embassy in Kyiv urges US citizens to exercise increased caution," the statement said.
The embassy advised all US citizens to monitor alerts from Ukrainian authorities regarding airstrikes and to use a reliable airstrike alert app on their mobile phones.
"American citizens should respect all government curfews and quickly follow instructions and seek shelter during air alerts," the embassy added.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, the US Embassy in Ukraine stated on November 20 that it had received "specific information" about a possible significant airstrike and issued warnings to US citizens.
After that, the embassies of Spain, Italy and Greece in Ukraine announced closures to visitors after the US released information about a possible major airstrike.
Later, Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation claimed that the warnings were distributed by Russian actors at several diplomatic missions in Kiev to incite panic.
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on international partners to respond to the threat of Russian attacks without raising unnecessary alarm.
