Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron met today at the US White House.

In an appearance with reporters alongside Macron, Trump said the war "could be over within weeks" and also hinted that Vladimir Putin would allow European peacekeepers to be deployed in Ukraine as part of a possible peace deal.

He also mentioned that he could meet with Zelensky "this week or next week," while Trump has also confirmed that he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

When asked whether Ukraine should give up territory as part of a deal to end the war, Trump said: "We'll see," TCH reports.

Macron said the US's re-engagement power "is a source of uncertainty for Putin" and added that France is "ready to offer security guarantees to Ukraine."

Regarding the prospect of using European troops as peacekeepers, Macron added that the troops "would not be on the front line, but would be a guarantee in Ukraine."
