Donald Trump has said that the US will "definitely" impose trade tariffs on the EU, while leaving open the possibility of an agreement with the United Kingdom, KosovaPress reports.

Following the previous announcement of trade tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China, when Trump was asked by the BBC which country was next.

He has given a range of reasons for imposing tariffs on countries, including border security, drug flows and trade deficits.

"Because we take their food and agricultural products, their cars, everything, and we get nothing in return. This is a cruelty what they have done," he said.

Tariffs of 25 percent on imports from Canada and Mexico, and 10 percent on China, will begin on Tuesday.
