US President Donald Trump has agreed to help Ukraine find additional US Patriot air defense systems available in Europe, White House spokeswoman Carolina Leavitt said tonight.

Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke by phone for an hour, during which they touched on a ceasefire and the possibility of ending Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as protecting Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Zelensky requested additional air defense systems to protect Ukrainian civilians, particularly Patriot systems, and the US president agreed to find what was available, primarily in Europe, according to a summary of the conversation.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Kiev has repeatedly called on partners to provide additional air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, especially the energy sector, from Russian missile and drone attacks.

The advanced Patriot systems play a key role in protecting Ukraine's skies. They are capable of shooting down even the most advanced ballistic missiles, such as the Russian Kinzhals, it reports. KosovaPress.

After the confrontation between Zelensky and Trump in the Oval Office on February 28, Washington temporarily suspended all military and intelligence assistance to Ukraine. But after talks between Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia in March, this suspension was lifted.
