The social platform TikTok appears to still not be completely shut down in Albania. The March 13 deadline set by the National Cyber Security Authority, which required internet companies to take the necessary measures to completely block access to TikTok, will be extended.
This platform is still open in Albania, but with difficulties in use, as well as with signs of blockage in the process, writes TVSh. The Cyber Security Authority has started the initial phase and the entire process will require up to 10 days, as more actions are needed to carry out the relevant procedures with the companies to remove the platform from mobile phones.
The first idea to shut down TikTok came from Prime Minister Edi Rama after the death of a 14-year-old boy with a knife from his peer, following a fight that started on social media.
Immediately after this event, the government began consultations with 65 parents and teachers and decided to close the platform as a measure for the safety of children.
To reopen TikTok, the company will need to guarantee filters to protect young people from aggressive videos.
