Since the inauguration of the Palace of Justice building, numerous problems are still haunting some of the justice institutions. Especially in the last three months, judges and other officials working in these spaces are being put at risk by using the elevators due to their malfunctioning.

The latest case occurred today (Wednesday) at around 10:00, where at the Supreme Court in Pristina three judges and administrative officials were left trapped in an elevator for 40 minutes.

As a result, judges and officials also had to receive medical treatment.

The President of the Trade Union Association of the Basic Court in Pristina, Naim Rrustemi, tells KosovaPress that elevator concerns are a daily occurrence for these officials.

Rrustemi says that especially in the last 3 months, there have been increased vibrations and uncontrolled movements of the elevators in the Palace of Justice.

Rrustemi said that employees in these areas are constantly putting their lives at risk if they use the elevators. He said he has requested that these problems be remedied.

In addition to the elevator problems, judges and other officials at the Palace of Justice are also having trouble with the lack of heating during these cold winter days.

The Supreme Court has also spoken out about the blocking of judges and officials in the elevator that occurred today.

This court says that for a year now, unsafe working conditions have been in place "as a result of elevators that are blocked and moving in an uncontrolled manner, and which are under the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs."

In fact, it is said that today's case increases the need for this issue not to be neglected any longer, but to be treated seriously and for the competent institutions to take the situation seriously and create working conditions ensuring that the lives of judges and Court staff are safe.

About 30 million euros were spent on the construction of the Palace of Justice, a joint investment of the European Commission and the Government of Kosovo.

Over the years, this facility has also had problems with air conditioning due to the lack of windows.
